Tender description

UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (‘UCLH’) (‘the Trust’) is looking for a partner to provide a private Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) service alongside a new NHS service from 2019. The brand new facility will sit at the centre of the UCLH campus in central London, offering a unique set of clinical adjacencies including one of the newest and most advanced radiotherapy departments in the UK, a world-class paediatric service, the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, and new clinical and science research facilities. UCLH wishes to procure a partner organisation to run a private service at UCLH's Proton Beam Therapy Centre. The facility is due to open in 2019 and it is the desire of the Trust that the private provision delivers high quality and professionally managed private PBT services and possibly the ability to conduct research. It is intended that the procurement for this partner will commence formally in Spring 2016, subject to NHS England business case approval. The purpose of this PIN is to seek information and opinion on how the private service should be procured, and indeed what contract options etc. would be seen as most desirable as a delivery route within the private provider marketplace.
