Grounds maintenance services. Planting and maintenance services of green areas. Hedge trimming. Sports fields maintenance services. Grave-digging work. Provision of grounds maintenance services throughout the Borough of Colchester, comprising: Grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, maintenance of planted areas and borders (including seasonal displays), hedges, trees, ponds and ditches, hard landscaping and litter collection; Site security for the parks and crematorium; Sports ground maintenance; Cemetery and crematorium maintenance– including burials. Types of site: Parks and open spaces, including the award winning Castle Park and High Woods Country Park; Closed churchyards and heritage sites; Cemetery and Crematorium; Housing areas- including sheltered and assisted accommodation; Sports grounds — including football, rugby, cricket (county and club standard), bowls, tennis courts (hard and grass); Highway verges and roundabouts; Allotments. The contract will have an initial term of 7 years and 7 months, with provision to extend for a single period of 3 years, at the discretion of the Council. The Council reserves the right to collaborate with other local authorities or agencies within Essex or Suffolk for the purpose of inclusion within this contract at a later date. During the resulting contract period, the successful bidder(s) may be required to work with the Council to undertake an options appraisal for the development of a Trading Company (eg, joint venture or similar) to provide the services included in this notice.
