Tender description

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is in the process of replacing its existing steam generating capability. Steam within the LSHTM will primarily be used for the supply of autoclaves, however, it will also serves as a backup energy source for an element of the building’s heating system. It is envisaged that the back-up system will rarely (if never) be used. In order to meet the steam load profile at the LSHTM it is assessed that a steam boiler capable of producing 700kg/hour of steam at 6 bar g pressure will be required. The design concept is to procure a pre-packaged system consisting of 2 no 700kg/hour steam boilers in an N+1 configuration with the appropriate water treatment, condensate return and control system supplied. The location for the new steam plant will be in an existing fourth-floor plant room; the main constraints are therefore logistics surrounding delivery, installation and ongoing maintenance.
