Newcastle City Council recognises and values the contribution Young Carers make in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the city. Our vision is to create a model of support that meets the needs of all Young Carers, whilst ensuring that 'their health and wellbeing is not disadvantaged by their caring roles and responsibilities. The new service is for the support of Young Carers up to the age of 25 who live in Newcastle and who care for someone ordinarily resident in Newcastle. It will be available for all Young Carers regardless of the age and health circumstances of the person for whom they care. It will be an inclusive service and will address the varying needs of all Young Carers. It will support and enhance the duties placed on Local Authorities by the Children Act 1989, the Children and Families Act 2014, the Care Act 2014 and associated Acts, Regulations and Guidance.
