Tender description

NHSBT has formal contractual arrangements in place for the provision of Blood Collection Systems which are due to expire on 30.4.2017. A new tender exercise will commence in February 2016 and this will be run by NHSBT, working with other European Blood Alliance members (full details of the EBA and their members are available at www.europeanbloodalliance.eu/), the Australian Blood Service (ARCBS) and New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) who will all be beneficiaries to the new agreement. Confirmation as to which EBA members will be involved has yet to be confirmed but as standard, primary whole blood collection specification together with an ancillary processing system specification will form the majority of the tender requirements. The final versions of these specifications are now available and can be obtained by contacting Hannah Evans at hannah.evans@nhsbt.nhs.uk As guidance to the type of packs required the following generic headings have been provided: — Eurobloodpack Top and Top (TAT) whole blood collection systems. — Eurobloodpack Bottom and Top (BAT) whole blood collection systems. — Eurobloodpack Bottom and Top (BAT) with integral plasma filter whole blood collection systems. — Whole Blood Collection Dry System. — Quadruple Transfer Set. — Sextuplet Transfer Set. — Single Transfer Pack. — Cryoprecipitate Pooling System. — Plasma Filter Set — Single Transfer System. — Plasma Filter Set — Double Transfer System. — Platelet Pooling Filter System. — Platelet Storage System. — Platelet Pooling Filter System with integral Sample Pouch. The current EBA, ARBS and NZBS combined purchased volumes is close to 4 000 000 packs across the whole blood collection and ancillary processing system range detailed above. There is the potential for this to increase over the the life of the new agreement.
