A powder X-ray diffractometer for routine powder diffraction, which can operate to all appropriate Irish and EU legislation on the provision and use of ionising radiation, is required. There are a variety of different instrument set-ups that can be used for Powder X- ray Diffraction. We are interested primarily in reflection geometry. The ability to switch between different set-ups is useful, but may be restricted by budgetary requirements. Vendors are encouraged to provide a range of possible options. If water cooling is necessary, an appropriate water to air re-circulator must be included as part of the purchase package. The proposed site for this is a maximum of 15 M above the proposed instrument location. The appropriate hosing to connect the instrument with the re-circulator must be specified. A suitable PC system must be supplied as part of the purchase package. Typical maintenance schedules must be specified. Full and safe procedural methods are required for all routine maintenance that will be necessary for the PXRD systems quoted.
