Provision of an Appropriate Adult Service

Tender description

The Contractor shall provide an Appropriate Adult service to vulnerable adults in the SWP Force area. The Contractor shall also be required to attend to, or advise on (as appropriate), any other case of a similar nature as requested by the Force. The list of Services below is not intended to be exhaustive but shall include: * To support, advise and assist the detained person, particularly while they are being interviewed; * To observe whether the police are acting properly, fairly and with respect for the rights of the detained person, and to tell them if it is thought that they are not; * To assist with communication between the detained person and the police; * To ensure that the detained person understands their rights and to recognise the role the Appropriate Adult has in protecting the detained person’s rights; * To comply with the requirements of the NAAN Standards. This Framework will also be open to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed Powys. There are no guarantees that the framework will be use by these forces.
