Tender description

Brighton and Hove City Council is currently planning and considering its options for the commissioning of Public Health services for children and young people in the city, which may include the procurement of these services in 2016. The new Public Health responsibility for Local Authorities includes the commissioning of the Public Health services for children aged 0-19 as part of the Healthy Child Programme. The Healthy Child Programme is the key universal programme available to all children, young people and their families. Its main aims are to reduce inequalities; ensure that every child gets the good start they need; ensure that children and young people fulfil their potential and grow into healthy adults. The new integrated Public Health service for children and young people aged 0-19 will deliver strong universal provision and work towards early identification of problems to ensure additional support is offered. The service will enable to improve Public Health outcomes across a range of areas which include, but are not limited to:  Reduced maternal smoking at delivery  Reduced overweight and obesity in pregnant women  Improved breastfeeding initiation  Improved child development at 2 - 2.5 years  Improved parenting confidence and skills  Improved readiness for school  Reduced excess weight in 4-5 and 10-11 year olds  Reduced smoking prevalence in 15 year olds  Increased Chlamydia diagnoses 15 – 24 year olds  Reduced under18 conception rates  Reduced drug and alcohol use in young people The new integrated service will also contribute to:  Improved connection with the maternity services and acute paediatric services  Improved connection with primary care, including primary care nursing  Improved connection with the public health schools programme  Improved connection with local communities, including through the Council’s forthcoming neighbourhoods model The Council is looking to hear from providers who would like to be kept informed of the Council’s plans for the commissioning of these services and would be grateful if you could complete and return the information in the attached document to the following email address: andy.witham@brighton-hove.gov.uk The deadline for responses is Monday 25th January 2016
