The Textile Waste Contract

Tender description

Devon County Council, as the Waste Disposal Authority works in partnership with the District Councils and Unitary Authorities through Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee (DAWRRC). DAWRRC members are working together to achieve a 65% recycling rate by 2025/26 and achieve best value in the provision of the sale of recyclable materials collected from householders and from recycling facilities throughout Devon. This tendering opportunity is for the provision and maintenance of clothing and textile banks at various locations in Devon, collecting the material that is deposited in the banks by the public, as well as collecting the material stockpiled as part of the Kerbside collection schemes provided by the participating DAWRRC members. It is estimated that 350 tonnes per annum of textile waste is deposited in bring banks while 250 tones per annum is collected through the District Councils' kerb side collections. The Contract will be for an initial period of 24 months starting from April 2016, with option to extend , by mutual agreement, for up to a maximum further period of 24 months.
