Provision of Psychiatric Intensive Care to the DPT

Tender description

The Devon Partnership NHS Trust (“DPT”) is preparing to Tender for the provision of Psychiatric Intensive Care to the Trust There is no PICU available within Devon for patients in need of intensive inpatient nursing. Current arrangements are a combination of commissioned capacity within a range of NHS and independent sector providers commissioned on an “as and when” basis. Psychiatric intensive care is for patients who are in an acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder. There is an associated loss of capacity for self-control, with a corresponding increase in risk, which does not allow their safe, therapeutic management and treatment in a less acute or a less secure mental health ward. “DPT” plans to build its own PICU for Devon patients with an estimated time of completion, autumn of 2017. During the transition period “DPT” is looking to replicate the proposed new Ten (10) beds PICU from the 1 April 2016 to the 31 March 2017. We are inviting expressions of interest from PICU providers who would be able to provide Eight (8) male and Two (2) female PICU beds as close to Devon as is possible from the 1 April 2016 to the 31 March 2017.
