Tender description

The Victoria and Albert Museum intends to publish an OJEU contract notice in May 2017 for a contract to replace its existing contract for the provision of mechanical, electrical maintenance and small fabric works. It is envisaged that the scope of the contract will include a team based at the Victoria & Albert Museum carrying out planned maintenance using an asset and task system, reactive maintenance, 24 hour 7 day a week on call system, specialist sub contracts, and fabric small works on a day to day basis. The contract also includes planned and reactive maintenance for public health systems. The scope of the new contract may be extended to include locksmith, helpdesk and other facilities management services. The V&A Museum is a Grade 1 listed building with a floor area of 85,000 m2 and has plant rooms and distribution boards in 300 locations. The Estate also includes the Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green, London, stores at Blythe Road, London and Dean Hill. Both the V&A and the Museum of Childhood are open to the public seven days a week including Public Holidays. This contract is intended to provide support to FuturePlan, the museum's major project plan by investigating existing M&E systems and fabric, providing temporary systems and isolation works prior to contract start, supporting the commissioning, and integrating the operations and maintenance manuals into the existing site records. The contract also includes the repair and maintenance services of electrical and mechanical building installations. In spring 2017, the Museum will complete The Exhibition Road Building Project (ERB), which will deliver a new courtyard, entrance, café, shop and, most significantly, a state of the art temporary exhibition gallery (the Sainsbury Gallery) to host the V&A’s world-renowned programme of blockbuster exhibitions. Due to the significance of the ERB, the Museum does not consider it appropriate to start a new contract for the provision of mechanical and electrical maintenance and small fabric works during the snagging period for the newly opened ERB. The Museum is therefore intending to extend its existing contract with Cofely FM Ltd for six months to take the expiry date from 14 November 2017 to 14 May 2018. The estimated value of the contract is 1,000,000GBP per annum. Any comments or questions on the Museum’s decision to extend the current contract with Cofely FM Ltd should be addressed to procurement@vam.ac.uk by 17:00GMT on 11th January 2016.
