Tender description

The purpose of the battery system is to provide stability to the Grid by injecting power with a fast response time when the Grid needs such power. A control system, monitoring the requirements of the Grid, will send commands to control the output from the Power Conversion System (PCS). The batteries will be charged up from the grid and will remain charged, waiting for a system “event” whereupon they will discharge back to the grid.This is part of a demonstration project to provide stability to the Grid. The plant will be installed in Rhode, Co. Offaly. It is envisaged that, on successful completion of the demonstration project, commercial sized plants would be built in 2016 and 2017.
