Tender description
This PIN is being published to establish whether the level of interest and ability in the market place to support the decision to process procurement process to be followed in the procurement of a medicines management system. Following the successful trial of a medicines management system the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is looking to roll out a Trust wide solution with the aim to improve its medicines management to get the right Medicine, to the right patient, at the right time through implementation of closed loop Bar code assisted medicines administration which will: • Transform medicine supply using a unit dose preparation system by the establishment of a unit dose facility which will require the provider to work with the Trust to achieve MHRA license status. • Through efficient logistics and just in time systems reduce consumption and ward stock holding of medicines. • Using cutting edge robotics to improve dispensing productivity and accuracy. • Implement state of the art software that directly links logistical flow to demand to gain supply efficiency via the linkage of prescribing, administration and logistical flow. • Minimum number of software interfaces to include links to the Trust Electronic Patient Records (EPR) system including prescribing module. • Replace wooden ward medicine cupboards with automated cabinets controlled by the software which can fill the medicine trolley with individual patient therapy prior to the drug round. The Trust is looking to procure this as a service contract which will include all the necessary hardware, works, software (including Interaction to current software systems), human resources and installation to deliver a closed managed service across the Trust. The Trust has 1700 beds, administers c5-7m doses per year and with the largest Emergency Floor in England admits up to 1600 admissions per week.
