Diabetes Thematic Review

Tender description

CQC wishes to commission insight into the qualitative experiences of care of people with diabetes – focusing particularly on people with diabetes from particular populations. This work will inform the thematic review and sit alongside other activity being undertaken to gather people’s experiences of diabetes care in the community. The participants must live in the geographical locations we are carrying out fieldwork in (inspectors visiting services providing care to people with diabetes). There are 10 Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) areas in total that we will be carrying out fieldwork in. These CCG areas haven’t been publically announced yet but we will share the details with the successful bidder. The objective of the review is to improve our understanding of people's experience of community diabetes care, and examine how services work together to deliver high-quality diabetes care. Conclusions must highlight if reported experience relates to Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. The review will consider: o whether people experience coordinated person-centred care o whether people are receiving the nine care processes recommended by NICE o how people are supported to self-manage, including access to structured education
