Agricultural crop map prototype

Tender description

Creation of a digital crop map of the United Kingdom for the growing seasons of 2015, 2016 and 2017. The crop map will be produced from satellite imagery and will identify all the main arable crops including winter wheat, winter barley, spring barley, oilseed rape, sugar beet, potatoes, field beans and maize. RSAC has already collaborated with CEH on an Innovate UK funded feasibility project aimed at identifying the potential for developing crop maps from satellite imagery. During the course of the feasibility study both CEH and RSAC developed innovative and unique intellectual property which, it was proved, can be used together to generate the satellite imagery derived crop maps. The crop maps in question cannot be produced without use of RSAC’s intellectual property which RSAC has exclusive rights to. CEH and the customer have agreed to collaborate on the production of the crop maps for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
