Tender description

The Heritage Council, in partnership with Archaeology Scotland (archaeologyscotland.org.uk), is seeking to develop a pilot Adopt a Monument scheme in Ireland in 2015-16. This will promote conservation through • The identification of 5 archaeological sites with opportunity for significant community engagement; and arising from this, • The drafting of an Irish AaM guidance document adapted from best practice in Scotland • The development of a shared understanding of the monument amongst a community group • The provision of mentoring and training for participants (e.g. graveyard recording, building survey, basic maintenance etc) • The identification of actions for the ongoing care and presentation of the monument (i.e. a basic management plan, drafted with the community for their implementation) • Ongoing reporting to the Heritage Council will be required
