Data Integration Pilot 9 - Innovative application of remote sensing to Forestry management and monitoring. As part of the EODIP initiative, the Authority and the Forestry Commission are seeking to develop a system to improve the efficiency of woodland and forestry monitoring. The project will develop a new approach to deriving information to inform the National Forest Inventory monitoring programme. It will make use of freely-available Sentinel (and possibly other EO data) and supplementary data in the form of derived EO products, topographic, physical and environmental monitoring data. It will develop a prototype system to enable investigation of change and rules to operate on identified datasets to generate information useful for operational forests and woodland monitoring, which will eventually be made publically available to support economic growth.
