BIM, the Irish Sea Fisheries Board, is the state agency set up to promote the sustainable development of the Seafood Industry. BIM’s mission is to grow a thriving Irish seafood industry; expand the raw material base, add value and develop efficient supply chains that together deliver on the Government’s Food Harvest 2020 targets for seafood and create sustainable jobs. The BIM National Fisheries College located in Castletownbere. Co. Cork is approved by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport through the Marine Survey Office, to deliver approved Marine radio courses to the fishing industry. To enable the college to deliver these courses, it requires Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) radio simulators. The college aims to deliver to the Irish fishing industry, IMO (International Maritime Organisation) model courses for; • IMO 1.25 GOC (General Operators Certificate) • IMO 1.26 ROC ( Restricted Operators Certificate) These courses will be delivered at the National Fisheries College (NFCI) of Ireland Castletownbere. With the advances that have taken place within the Marine communications industry to date, this equipment will help to ensure that the students are equipped with the skills they require to operate the marine radio equipment they will encounter in their sea-going capacity. BIM is now inviting tenders for the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of four student GMDSS GOC Radio Simulators and one instructor station at The National Fisheries College, Cork. Please note that BIM expect delivery of this product by 17th April 2015.
