Tender description

The purpose of the project is to construct a new laboratory facility in the Ramsden Workshop to house the Microscope and Ion Accelerator for Materials Investigations team, their new equipment and existing equipment to be moved by others from their existing facility in the Technology Building. The nature of the work includes the strip out of existing ceilings, floor covering, fixtures and fittings, old spray booth equipment, ducting and cowls, mechanical and electrical services. The demolition of a concrete block walls & metal stud partitions. The strip out of toilet cubicles, sanitary ware and associated pipework and services. The excavation and casting of new pad foundations. The trimming of existing roof structure beams to allow the removal of part of the roof. The construction of new steel mezzanine floor structure, penetrating through the new roof opening. The construction of new walls onto the steel structure to form a new extension. New precast concrete floor and roof structure. The moving of two windows from the front elevation to the side elevation, blocking up the existing openings. The through coat rendering of the new structure and front and side elevation of the existing structure. Installation of new automatic external doors. The removal and installation of new roof lights. The insulating to falls and new roof covering of the existing and new roof. New roof outlets, rain water pipes, parapet capping and flashing. The construction of new partitions, doors, architraves, skirting’s and window board. Skimming of the new walls. Plastering of existing brick and block walls. Installation of new ceilings The installation of new power, data and lighting. The installation of new heating, ventilation and cooling systems. The redecoration of all areas. The installation of new barrier matting, carpet tiles, and vinyl. The installation of new kitchen units, worktop and sink. The installation of new storage unit sliding doors and internal racking. The installation of new laboratory benching and mobile under bench units.
