Tender description
The PEACE IN THE FLEADH project relates to strategic priority 4 of the Sligo Peace & Reconciliation Partnership Committee Action Plan 2011 – 2013 which is to Support active participation by Peace III Programme target groups in civic life. The Aims of the Project are: • To increase visibility and awareness of peace work taking place throughout Co Sligo. • To use Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann as a means of promoting positive images of Peace III programme target groups. • To promote shared use of space to develop and further understanding acceptance and trust through celebration of cultural, history, music and arts. • To increase tolerance and respect for cultural diversity by shared participation and by providing opportunity to showcase individual elements of the culture of different societal groupings and groupings of different cultural backgrounds. • Assist towards transforming contested space into shared space and growth of confidence to access all spaces and facilities through active participation, performance and cultural presentation. • Promote inter cultural, multi cultural, cross community and cross border collaboration in the North West. • Build on the positive initiatives delivered and implemented through Peace III via recent Fleadhanna in Cavan and Derry. • Address the legacy of conflicts by providing opportunities for people of all ages to meet and explore their beliefs, culture, heritage, language and traditions. • Build capacity, facilitate and promote interaction through shared programmes and initiatives by involving of minority and excluded communities • Create opportunity for publicly showcasing minority and excluded communities and their cultures • Raise awareness and understanding of the value and importance of anti sectarianism and anti racism intervention. • Celebrate and promote an awareness of the commonality that exist between aspects of our individual cultures and traditions.
