Intelligent Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV) Control System

Tender description

Lancaster University is investing in the development and use of an intelligent heating control system to enable individual radiators to be controlled by temperature and time, for the benefit of the end user’s thermal comfort and the universities environmental policy. This project will provide, through retrofitting existing infrastructure, the fine grained automatic control of the heating system for Bowland North building. This will be designed and implemented with an eye for future expansion into the entire University heating infrastructure. There will essentially be 2 layers to the overall control system: 1) a hardware layer which will incorporate the installation of the hardware thermostatic valve heads to control the heating emitters; 2) a server based software solution that will ultimately provide automatic control of the heating elements to satisfy the stakeholder’s requirements (this specification). This Invitation to Tender encompasses the development and implementation of the software management systems that will allow the heating control systems to be monitored, analysed and further developed over a full heating season.
