Tender description
Bespoke casualty care course that typically reflects the type and nature of first aid incident encountered by a search and rescue organisation. Commensurate with the environment, casualty habitats and rescue situations. The emphasis on the practical elements of the course will be to promote a culture of casualty care intervention, treatment, packaging and delivery to the next level of care. The syllabus or training may need to be amended or updated dependant on changes in operational needs. Typical syllabus: - Incident and Scene Management - Casualty care Priorities - Basic Life Support - Examination / Survey of Casualty - Conscious / Un-conscious casualty - Head injuries - Spinal injuries - Control of Bleeding internal and external - Fractures & Extremity Injuries - Burns and Scald - Immersion injuries, drowning and hydrostatic squeeze. - Heart Conditions - Stroke - Epilepsy - Stings (insect and marine environment) - Hypothermia / Hyperthermia - Eye Injury - Dressings - Recoding Reporting and Handover - Regulations - First Aid Kits & Use - Use of bag and mask; - Use of stiff neck collars; - Stretcher handling and packaging of patients, including the use of spinal splinting (note: current stretchers in use by the MCA are the Evac body splint, Pro-lite Speedboard and Alphin line stretcher). • Duration of course is expected to be 5 days • The instructor (train the trainer) module qualifier will be required to run concurrently with the casualty care element of the course. This qualification should be the required minimum level instructor qualification in keeping with current legislation. • Re-validation (2 day course plus 2 day for re-accreditation as an instructor);
