Tender description

Detailed design and construction of; • A 3m wide raised boardwalk (recyled plastic or equivalent with slip resistance surfacing) along an existing towpath on the bank of the River Shannon (from University of Limerick Boat Club to Rhebogue) over a distance of approximately 1.1km. • 3 no. new footbridges as follows; Bridge 4 – 3m wide footbridge (boardwalk-type deck) adjacent to the existing stone arch bridge; Bridge 5 – 3m wide footbridge (boardwalk-type deck) adjacent to the existing stone arch bridge; Bridge 6 – 3m wide footbridge (boardwalk-type deck) adjacent to the existing stone arch bridge; 1 no. existing footbridge to be widened as follows; Bridge 7 – widening of the existing footbridge with a precast reinforced concrete deck; • Cleaning and limited repairs to 3 no. existing stone arch bridges • Ducting, public lighting, balustrades and signage along the route. The route immediately adjoins or runs through parts of the Lower River Shannon candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) and the works must therefore be designed and constructed with particular attention to the protected ecological status and industrial heritage of the area.
