Provision of Short Breaks for Disabled Children and their Parents/Carers

Medway Council wishes to recommission its short breaks provision for children and young adults with disabilities aged up to 18 in order to give parents/carers and their families a break from their caring role. Short breaks provision includes a spectrum of services ranging from supporting a young person to attend a local scout group/youth club, to join in a sporting event or some other social and leisure activity, attending an after school club, a play group in the holidays (either one specifically designed for children and young people with disabilities, or one set up to support non disabled children), sitting and befriending services, through to spending a set number of nights in a residential type setting.
