Lot 4 - Supervised Consumption

Pharmacists participating in this service will be expected to take on the number of service users that they feel appropriate for their pharmacy within the parameters of good practice advised by the local treatment service, taking into account all their community responsibilities. The community pharmacy must provide a supervised consumption service Monday to Saturday as a minimum requirement. The community pharmacy will provide a sufficient level of privacy for the service user and safety for staff. The community pharmacy must offer a user-friendly, non-judgemental, client-centred and confidential service at all times. The community pharmacy will support access routes for service users to other health and social care and to act as a gateway to other services particularly those offered on the framework i.e. stop smoking. By providing the supervised consumption service, the community pharmacy will contribute to improving retention in drug treatment. By providing the supervised consumption service, the community pharmacy will contribute to improving drug treatment delivery and completion.
