Tender description
The purpose of the service is to start the development of a programme to reduce the risk of young people being harmed as a result of domestic abuse and to inform young people where they can seek advice and support if they are living with domestic abuse. The programme would need to be appropriate to deliver both in primary and secondary schools but also have a complimentary delivery in and out of school settings such as in the youth service and post-16 Further Education. As such the successful provider will need to work closely with stakeholders. The service will commence January 2016 following an agreed pilot exercise involving: · ; 3 secondary schools · ; 1 PRU · ; 1 Special Needs school · ; 7 Primary schools The delivery would need to include an evaluation element to develop a school wide roll out. <b>KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE SERVICE</b> <b> </b> · Review of what schools are currently using in PHSE for domestic abuse prevention. · Need for universal input that can also be tailored to be used with young people who may be experiencing domestic abuse in the home. · To incorporate the fact that young people like first-hand experiences as part of their learning. · Whole school approach - fully engage senior school leadership and all teachers and parents in this agenda. · Identify, train and support young people as peer educators · Workplace policies that effectively support staff experiencing domestic abuse. · Parents need to be included - as a protective factor and also in cases where parents are experiencing domestic abuse. It is important that teachers know what services are available and can signpost and/or refer. · Promotion of safe texting and the dangers of sexting. · Providing support to understand the dynamics of power and control in relationships and recognising the early signs in own relationships and those of friends. · Using media that is available to young people to analyse and challenge - e.g. music videos/ lyrics, popular TV programmes. · Programme needs to be sustainable through a social value model. · Evaluation element that can demonstrate impact (awareness, impact on learning, feelings of safety etc) and form the basis of business case for wider roll out. · 'Training' for teachers, school staff, governors, pupils, students, pastoral staff, parents. <b>OUTCOMES/ OUTPUTS</b> · Clear understanding of the behaviours that can be triggers for unhealthy relationships and domestic abuse. · Being able to recognise the early signs of domestic abuse and what to do. · High quality set of resources that can be used both in school settings and out of school and..(view full details to see more)
