Tender description

Corby Borough Council are seeking an artist to produce a commissioned artwork, to be installed at Corby Railway Station, following receipt of Section 106 monies for this purpose. The Council requires an artist to produce an art installation to enhance the visitor experience at Corby Railway Station but also provide a creative and visually stimulating welcome to Corby. The successful bidder will be required to engage with local stakeholders, design, produce and install public art which will need to: • Be original, and of high quality • Connect to the local area, its history and cultural offer • Provide a creative and visually stimulating welcome to Corby • Reflect and celebrate the theme of Corby Borough • Be fit for purpose, robust, secure, comply with relevant health and safety requirements and be low maintenance • Be granted any planning permission before fabrication starts. The exact location of the art work will be agreed during the consultation period in line with planning consent but must be within the Corby Railway Station boundary. The final work should be informed by the people, their stories and the landscape. At this stage, the Council is open to proposals regarding the scope size and materials of the piece, though we would expect that the art work will be permanent.
