WESTERN SUSSEX HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Contract for the supply of Psychology service support for Trust Bariatric service . Offers are invited to provide the above service, based at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, part of the Western Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The bariatric service at St Richard’s Hospital receives approximately 500 referrals per year. The multidisciplinary bariatric team comprises Consultant Surgeons, Consultant Physicians, Consultant Anaesthetists, Dietitians, Psychotherapists, Specialist Nurses and Administrative Staff. We require a service that can work flexibly in the outpatient setting, within the context of the multidisciplinary bariatric team. As part of the assessment for bariatric surgery, patients are required to undergo psychological screening, in order to ensure that there are no psychological barriers to surgery. Use of a validated screening tool would be encouraged. A commitment to active research and audit is also encouraged. We anticipate that approximately 10 patient assessments would carried out each week. Each assessment would take approximately 45 minutes. The successful service would be expected to provide the necessary tools in order to conduct the assessment (e.g. IT equipment) The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust is a new Trust, recently formed by the amalgamation of the highly performing Royal West Sussex and Worthing and Southlands Hopsitals NHS Trusts, providing health care for nearly 500,000 people.
