For the Westminster City Council area: 1. Project 1: door knock 24,000 estate properties to promote an incentive scheme (DCLG /Veolia funded) 2. Project 2: door knock 17,500 separate doorstep properties to promote the use of nearby WEEE banks. (DTS Local Project Fund via the Department for Business Innovation and Skills) The purpose of the project commissioned by the brief and of the services provided by the consultant is sevenfold: a) To significantly improve the City Council’s tonnage, participation and contamination rates for household waste recycling in the areas targeted. b) To promote knowledge and understanding of the recycling, reuse and reduction services provided by the City Council. c) To identify those factors preventing or limiting participation in order to inform service changes/improvements and maximise efficient resource use. d) To educate people on alternatives to dumping waste and the forthcoming plastic bag ban e) To increase the database of e-mail addresses for the e-newsletter f) To increase WEEE capture and decrease its entry into the waste stream g) Aid the successful launch of the estates incentive scheme
