Capital Dredge to Support Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Carrier at Her Majesty's Naval Base (HMNB) Portsmouth

This notice is to inform that the Contract for the provision of Capital Dredging to support the Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carrier at Her Majesty's Naval Base (HMNB) Portsmouth has been awarded to Boskalis Westminster Limited. The QEC Capital dredging works are to allow the QEC Carrier to be capable of accessing and departing from the designated berths during the two high water windows per 24 hour period and to have the capability to remain at the designated berths at any state of the tide. To achieve this, the approach channel, harbour entrance, inner harbour and berth pocket needs to be deepened, widened and straightened. The Authority believes that the capital dredge of the approach channel into Portsmouth Harbour and the capital dredge of the inner harbour will involve the removal of approximately 3.2 million cubic metres of dredged material.
