Tender description
Expressions of Interest Replacement of St Helena’s Street Lighting. The island of St Helena, an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom (UK) is of volcanic origin and covers 47 square miles in the South Atlantic Ocean. St Helena is over 4,000 miles from the UK, 700 miles southeast of Ascension Island, and 1,700 miles from South Africa. The Island’s total population is under 4,500 persons, about 25% of whom live in the capital, Jamestown. The climate is kept mild and equable by the southeast trade winds and temperatures range from 14-32 degrees centigrade in the summer and 14-26 degrees centigrade in winter. The Saint Helena Government are seeking Expressions of Interest for the supply and installation of Street Lighting. The project is split into 2 Lots. Lot 1 is for the supply of LED Streetlights (materials) which will be a mixture of solar and mains operated lighting. Lot 2 will be for the labour to replace the existing lighting. Please note that existing lamp posts will not be replaced. Applicants may bid for either or both lots. The works will in 4 phases (anticipated dates are shown):- Phase 1- Replace the existing 67 solar lights on the Island. (Dec 2015) Phase 2- Replacement of 41 mains lights in Longwood, Levelwood, Half Tree Hollow and St Pauls (Apr 2016) Phase 3- Replacement of 104 mains lights in the Jamestown district (Sep 2016) Phase 4- Replacement of 70 lights on Jacobs Ladder (To be agreed) ENRD would expect to order goods on a “call-off” arrangement and pay as appropriate on order and receipt.
