CP1179-15 Fab Lab Outreach Support

Tender description

Devon County Council wishes to procure the services of specialists to develop and deliver a series of workshops, to fully utilise the resources of Fab Lab Devon. Workshops would normally run for a maximum of 2.5 hours per session, and should be categorised as: those aimed at schools, general public and businesses be delivered in a range of 3 settings, including: at Fab Lab Devon HQ at Exeter Library (making full use of all equipment); in a DCC Library setting elsewhere within the county (with key locations being Honiton, Newton Abbot, Totnes, Barnstaple and Bideford Libraries, using a range of more mobile equipment from the Fab Lab), In some areas these sites could also provide a base for the schools activity to be delivered as well; and in secondary/primary schools around the county (given limited resources we anticipate that the successful tenderer would focus on working with families of schools, with workshops drawing in pupils from a broad catchment area). Again, mobile equipment, drawn from the Fab Lab, should be used for these workshops, with resources likely to include: small scale 3D printer(s), raspberry Pi technology, a range of small scale electronics equipment. Tenders can also make use of existing equipment at Fab Lab HQ to prepare workshop items prior to delivery, and may wish to consider using video footage of some of the prep work being carried out to give workshop participants a taste of how other equipment available in the Lab can help support them. Tenderers are also encouraged to use their own equipment where necessary to supplement that provided locally.
