Tender description

The University of Sheffield has awarded a tender for Structural Experimental equipment to be housed in our new Diamond Building. The Light Structures Laboratory within the Diamond will be used by students from a wide range of disciplines across the Faculty of Engineering, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. The purpose of the Laboratory is the translation of theoretical principles into real-life experiences, and vice versa, to promote both qualitative and quantitative understanding. This tender was divided into nine (9) Lots: Lot 1-10x Cantilever frame experiment Lot 2-10x Chain (or Cable) suspension Lot 3-10x Arch Lot 4-10x Normal and shear stresses in beams Lot 5-10x Deflection of a beam Lot 6-10x Plastic hinge formation in a beam Lot 7-10x Buckling of struts Lot 8-10x Plastic bending of portals Lot 9-10x Asymmetric bending *Please note* that only Lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 have been awarded.
