NATIONAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT STOPS-DATA MANAGEMENT TOOL (NAPTAN)

Tender description

The National Public Transport Access Nodes database (NaPTAN) is a nationwide system for uniquely identifying all the points of access to public transport in Great Britain. It is a core component of the GB national transport information infrastructure and is used by a number of other GB standards and information systems. The Department has responsibility for creating and maintaining NaPTAN data for rail stations, airports, ferry terminals and light rail/tram metro stations, and the means to create and edit, then upload this data to the NaPTAN database is required when changes to the data are made. A system is therefore needed to carry out this function in order to maintain accurate NaPTAN data. The purpose of the procurement is to put in place a contract for a software tool that will enable the creation and maintenance of NaPTAN data for the Department for Transport.
