Tender description

STFC is seeking to purchase mode-locked and timing stabilized, femtosecond laser system for use as an optical clock in a research accelerator project. As the laser will form the heart of the optical timing and synchronisation system on the accelerator, its reliability and noise will be particularly important. The pulse repetition rate of the laser system is to be 249.875 MHz and the laser will be required to be synchronised with the accelerator systems 3GHz RF oscillator source. As our intention is to use the laser as the central clock for the accelerator, the stability of the synchronised laser repetition rate is critical to our application. We intend to distribute the laser output across the accelerator facility through optical fibre. As such we require the laser to have a central wavelength within the 1530-1565 nm communications window.
