Tender description

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is now inviting expressions of interest for “Constructionline” and CHAS approved contractors to be shortlisted to a final list of four contractors to take part in the above project. The Works The project entails the following works: • Supply an internal scaffold to gain access to a classroom ceiling • Remove and set aside all electrical lighting currently fitted on the ceiling • Possibility of new lighting to be fitted in ceiling • Gain access to the loft areas and remove/set aside any insulation that is sitting between the joists • Remove lath and plaster ceilings to complete classroom • Renew in plaster board and skim • Complete classroom to be decorated on completion of works The work is scheduled to commence and be completed in the School summer holidays, however there may be some overlap therefore the site manager will be expected to have Disclosure and this will need to be provided in advance. Henry Green Primary School is situated in Green Lane and access will be via local residential roads with off street parking available. There may be some parking allowed in the school car park at the school’s discretion. The estimated value of the scheme is approximately £80,000. Once tenders are returned, the contractor will be expected to mobilise immediately. It should be noted that the works come under the CDM regulations and the contractor will be expected to provide his Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan as soon as possible for approval of the principle contractor health and safety officer. As the works in question are located inside a Primary school, the contractor must evidence that he is capable of undertaken the works to the highest standards of quality and safety. The proposed ceiling contract will be carried out alongside a heating contract taking place during the same summer holiday period. This means other operatives will possibly be required to work in the same areas where the ceiling works are taking place. It may also be the case whereby the ceiling (building) contractor will have to re-locate to another part of the school building in order to give the heating contractor the full run of that particular classroom. The building contractor may also be required to return to various areas of the project after the heating works have been completed. The building contractor will be responsible for supplying all risk assessments and method statements to the principle contractor which will have to be approved before any works begin and will be the responsibility of the building contractors operatives to adhere to whilst on site.
