Community Beds for Harrow and Brent Clinical Commissioning Groups

Brent and Harrow Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) are consulting on proposals from potential providers of intermediate care beds (step up, step down, rehabilitation). This consultation will provide the intelligence for a future procurement exercise for a service to commence from autumn 2016. Brent and Harrow CCGs envisage that the service will be high quality, accessible, multi-disciplinary and medically led. It will aim to: • Provide the appropriate level of capacity required across the system • Reduce unnecessary prolonged hospital stays and improve flow through hospital beds • Maximise of independent living • Promote faster recovery from illness • Provider a positive patient experience • Reduce admission to hospital (step-up) • Reduce hospital readmission rates Before commencing a procurement process, the CCGs wish to undertake market sounding and will consider offering interim contracts to meet immediate urgent demand for sufficient bed capacity in the local health economy during winter 2015/16 (up to 80 beds). The required bed capacity will fall into the following categories: • Community Ward beds (DTOC, community medically fit, general rehab & step-up) • General rehab (non weight bearing) • Specialist Neuro-rehab (to be finalised) The CCGs wish to identify the capability and capacity of local providers and therefore requests providers to complete and return the questionnaire to greg_reide@nhs.net by 12pm on 24 June 2015. Potential providers who do not express an interest at this stage will still be able to apply in the future. All responses will be treated in confidence. This expression of interest does not commit the CCGs to undertake the procurement of the service and the CCGs has a right to withdraw the notice.
