Afterwards, please click on the ‘view current opportunities’ section and search for ‘Rugeley Dental Procurement’. ---- 1.0 INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW 1.1 Background and Context to the Procurement NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands CSU (NHS Arden & GEMCSU) on behalf of NHS England North Midlands (referred to as the Commissioners) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced providers to deliver Personal Dental Services (PDS) within Rugeley area which is located 6 miles from Cannock and 10 miles from Stafford. NHS England North Midlands serves a population of approximately 3.6 million within the geographical boundaries of Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire including the market town of Rugeley which is located in the Cannock Chase District of Staffordshire with a population of around 23,000. NHS England North Midlands are responsible for commissioning all types of dental care within such geographical boundaries including primary care, secondary care, community and offender health services from a budget of around £150 million. 1.2 Objectives of the Procurement The key objectives of this Procurement are: • To commission an NHS dental practice within a 1 mile radius of WS15 2EJ and provide Personal Dental Services to the patient community from and around Rugeley area. • And by doing so offer patients further choice of Personal Dental Service provider. 1.4 Estimated Contract Value Based on the past experience it is anticipated that service provision resultant of this procurement will have an annual agreement value of £390,240 for the annual delivery of 16,000 UDAs (Units of Dental Activity). It is important to note here that the contract value and activity levels have been derived based on the past experience. There is no guarantee that they will remain at these levels in the future. They may increase or decrease. The actual contract value and activity levels may defer during the period of service provision due to factors beyond commissioner’s control such as increase/decrease in population of the local area, closure of other nearby dental surgeries due to unforeseen reasons, patients preference for the other dental surgeries etc. 1.5 Contract Duration As a result of this procurement exercise an agreement will be established with the successful bidder for a period of 5 years with the possibility of further 5 years extension.
