Infant Feeding Peer Support

Tender description

The peer support network will be expanded from its current level with the aim of increasing breastfeeding rates (initiation and at 6-8 weeks), and give assurance on the governance for standards and safety of support for new mothers who are providing their baby with any breast milk. The service will be delivered in children’s centres and the postnatal ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Providers will be responsible for identifying potential peer supporters. Training will take place at venues arranged by the provider. Contact with new mothers will take place initially through the Great Expectations antenatal education programme for prospective parents.
