Tender description

In November 2013, the HEA awarded the three institutions of the Shannon Consortium (SC) - University of Limerick (UL), Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) funding to support the development of an interface for the management and teaching practice school placements under the Strategic Innovation and Development Fund (SIDF). The proposal entitled “TÚS” (Teacher, University, and School) Teacher Placement Interface put forward the model of a custom‐built, collaborative web‐based administrative platform for school placement (SP) (circa 4,000 annual teaching practice placements) in the context of the concurrent Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes running at the three institutions. The system will facilitate the management (by teacher placement administration staff) and undertaking (by student-teachers and their tutors) of school placement, and in doing so forms a central data repository where information relating to all placements undertaken by student--‐teachers resides as they progress through their ITE programme.
