Independent Travel Training for Young People

Derbyshire Children and Young Peoples Trust is inviting applications from organisations who wish to provide person centred independent travel training opportunities for vulnerable children and young people, the majority of whom may have some disability.Priority for places on the training will be given to young people who Derbyshire County Council has identified as likely to gain the most benefit from the experience.The intended outcomes of the service are: That young people become more independent and gain confidence by being able to travel independently. That young people have a greater access to employment. That young people travel independently for other journeys as well as from home to school/college. The parent/carer will gain confidence in their young persons ability to become more independent.Applications are invited from those organisations wishing to provide a countywide service (excluding Derby City). Consortium submissions are welcomed.Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of issues regarding independence for vulnerable children, young people and their families.
