Provision of Public Health Funerals

Tender description

Cheshire East Council's Regulatory Services and Health (hereafter referred to as RS&H) has a statutory duty, under the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984, to provide suitable funeral arrangements for persons who have died with the Cheshire East area and where there is no one prepared to make suitable funeral arrangements. Currently the council deals with approximately 10 to 15 public funerals per year, however these numbers vary and no assurances can be given with regard to actual numbers of public funerals for future years. The contract will however require a set fee for individual funeral cremation (not including cremation fees) and burials for the period of 1st May 2015 to 30th April 2017 and in accordance with the requirements set out below. The contract covers the whole geographic area of Cheshire East Borough Council and therefore providers should ensure they are able and prepared to undertake public funerals for the whole of the area at the rates provided in the contract.
