Occupational Therapy and Design Services For Major Adaptations

The London Borough of Hillingdon is seeking a Contractor to provide a specialist Occupational Therapy and Surveying Service for major home adaptations for our elderly and less able Council tenants. Owner occupiers and those in Housing Association or privately rented homes are entitled to be financially assessed in line with the Disabled Facilities Grant which assists with financing adaptations. The successful contractor will be required to provide an Occupational Therapy Assessment to identify the resident's needs and requirements. It will also be expected that a Survey and detailed drawings with clinical recommendations are produced to enable the adaptation works to be undertaken by the Council's selected installations Contractor. Using these recommendations and drawings the Councils appointed installation contractor will install the relevant aids and/or make the required adaptations. Although the Councils Clerk of Works will be responsible for signing off the quality of the adaptations, it will be the responsibility of the contracted Occupational Therapist to confirm that the adaptation works have been carried out in accordance with their recommendations. In regards to recommended equipment and aids, the successful contractor will not be restricted to using one particular manufacturer or model and will ensure the needs identified in the OT assessment will within reason, dictate the manufacturer or model required. The ranges of adaptations commonly carried out are as follows: ● Ramps ● Hoists ● Kitchen adaptations ● Door Entry systems ● Level Access Showers & Bathroom adaptations ● Door Widening ● Stair Lifts ● Property Extensions ● Through Floor Lifts ● Platform Lifts ● Structural Alterations ● Central Heating ● Garage Conversions
