School Based Health Service

Tender description

The School Based Health Services will be comprised of 2 Lots (please see below for more detail) The contract is due to be awarded for a 2 year duration with the opportunity to extend for a further 1 + 1 year. This is the second Phase of the School Based Health Services, with Phase 1 running for a year. This contract will cover schools within the City of London. Lot 1 – School Entry Health Checks and National Children’s Measurement Programme (NCMP) (£165,000 per year) NCMP is a statutory requirement within schools, where children aged Reception class and children in Year 6 are measured for weight and height. The School Entry Health Checks include a brief questionnaire upon entry to the school and the provision of a school nurse within the school setting. The school nurses will provide a service for support, advice for teachers and confidential advice for pupils and a signposting service. Lot 2 – Health Services for Disabled Children in Special Schools and those with Additional Health Needs (£215,000 per year) This service will allow for additional support for health practitioners in schools for children with special education needs and disabilities, allowing students and teachers to have adequate support, easier information sharing methods and improved partnership working with children, families, health professionals, school, transport, therapies and other multi-professional agencies. There will also be an increased provision for the Orthodox Jewish community, which is at present, being piloted.
