The Department for Education (DfE) is responsible for supporting improvement in Local Authorities, as part of interventions, in response to failure or weakness in the provision of children’s social care services. The Department sees considerable value in drawing down external expertise, from various sectors, to support local authorities in these circumstances and will be increasingly using this approach in its interventions. This procurement offered successful bidders an exciting and challenging opportunity to drive improvement in underperforming children’s social care services and ensure vulnerable children receive a higher quality service.
