Archaeological Consultancy Services [Stage (i) - (iv) Services]

Tender description

The contract involves the provision of archaeological consultancy services required in advance of construction of R611 Carrigaline Western Relief Road, comprising Stage (i) Test Excavation and Survey Services, Stage (ii) pre- excavation services, Stage (iii) archaeological excavations and Stage (iv) post- excavation and dissemination services. Stage (i) Test Excavation and Survey Services were carried out along most of the route in August 2013. Five sites (Sites 1–5) were identified during this phase of testing. Two areas of the scheme were not tested: these are designated ‘Unresolved Area 1’ and ‘Unresolved Area 2’. (Note: Archaeological services with respect to ‘Unresolved Area 2’ shall not form part of this contract.) Stage (i) Test Excavation and Survey Services, as part of this contract, will be required for- • ‘Unresolved Area 1’, comprising an area of rough grass, waste ground and hard standing (tarmac) (total 0.328 ha). Stage (ii) Services will be required for – • Areas 1–5 • any additional sites identified during Stage (i) Services carried out as part of this contract.
