Tender description
Background South Tipperary Development Company (STDC) implements a number of programmes on behalf of various Government Departments. Programmes implemented by STDC include- Rural Development Programme (RDP); Local and Community Development Programme (LCDP); Rural Social Scheme (RSS); TUS; etc. As part of its work under the Rural Development Programme, STDC is working closely with the Knockmealdown Active Group (KMDA) and the Galtee Steering Group to help these groups develop the tourist potential of the catchment areas of the Knockmealdowns and the Galtees respectively. Knockmealdown Active was established almost three years ago. It is a multi- community initiative to promote trade and tourism in the communities at the foothills of the Knockmealdown Mountains in Co. Tipperary. The communities involved are Ballyporeen, Clogheen, Goatenbridge, Ardfinnan and Newcastle. The group has delivered a number of very successful projects based around walking, cycling and incorporating the history and heritage of the area (www.knockmealdownactive.com) The Galtee Steering Group (GSG) is a newly formed group. It represents approximately 13 communities around the foothills of the Galtees, taking in an area spanning from Tipperary town, Cahir, Mitchelstown to Kilfinnane and all the villages / communities within this catchment. The objective of GSG is to increase visitor numbers to the Galtee region and generate economic benefits to the businesses and communities within the Galtee Catchment area. The project STDC would like to invite applications from companies to work with STDC, KMDA and GSG to create and develop a STORY MAP that highlights the key products of, and the attractiveness of the area to potential visitors. The overall objective is to use the STORY MAP to attract increased visitor numbers to the mountain areas It is envisaged that the STORY MAP will contain both still photographs and video clips and any other means to get the message across to potential visit
