Tender description
Clare County Council is seeking to engage a consultant to activate, manage and evaluate a sustainable tourism programme within the EU Geopark LIFE programme with tourism businesses in the Burren for a period of one year. The Council may consider extending the contract for a further two years or part thereof. It will be a matter for Clare County Council to extend this contract if required. Where a Company wishes to apply, a co-ordinator has to be assigned to the contract. The role of the co-ordinator will be to activate, manage and evaluate a sustainable tourism programme for the Geopark LIFE programme. The co- ordinator will be involved in the following: • Feeding into the development of, and evaluation of the social, environmental and economic objectives for the LIFE programme • Collating baseline information, surveys of visitors, residents and local business participant’s expectations, experience, objectives and outcomes of the LIFE programme. • Utilising the EU ETIS Sustainable Tourism Destination Indicators to measure impacts on employment, visitor numbers, social awareness of the project, public enthusiasm, stimulation of other activities, and ‘success’ of the LIFE programme. • Implementing measurements for the impact of the LIFE programme on policy, stakeholder practice and other initiatives. • Facilitating the implementation and assessment of the Geopark Code of Practice for tourism businesses. • Implementing and monitoring a comprehensive training programme that facilitates participants in meeting the Geopark Code of Practice • Assisting with networking, packaging, marketing & promotion of tourism businesses who meet the Geopark Code of Practice • Monitoring the Geopark Code of Practice for Businesses as a mechanism for delivering the key objectives of the Geopark LIFE Programme This contract was awarded to Tina O' Dwyer.
