Technical Environmental Advisor. Specific Requirements: • Advisor to the Compliance Executive and Environmental Management Team (EMT) of the Irish Prison Service (IPS). The EMT is responsible for the IPS Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation and meets a minimum of 4 times per year. • Assist the IPS in developing its EMS documentation and procedures. This will involve working with the IPS Environmental Manager. • Providing Training in Environmental Awareness in conjunction with the IPS Environmental Manager. (4 days per year minimum). • Provision of technical assistance and advice to the Building Services Division (BSD) of the Irish Prison Service with regard to Waste Water Treatment Plant Operation, Water Quality Parameters, Waste Water Parameters (FOG License) and dealings with Local Authorities. This will involve working with the maintenance personnel and specialist grades based in various prisons and BSD. • Providing technical advice and interpretation of water and waste water quality analysis and providing written reports on same. • Assisting and providing technical advice to the IPS in meeting its current and future legal obligations with regard to Environmental legislation and targets. • The work may necessitate services at technician level and in the nature of administrative resources. The consultant shall be responsible for the provision of such services as part of the contract. • Provision of technical assistance and advice to the Building Services Division of the Irish Prison Service with regard to energy management, energy project feasibility reports and site specific energy assessments. • Provide technical assistance in assisting the IPS in reviewing and conduction Environmental Impact Assessments as may be required over the course and terms of the Advisory Service Contract.
