Tender description

The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience opened to the public in February 2007. This project, which provides world class visitor facilities, management and education at the iconic landmark, had been many years in the development. Inside the underground visitor centre building the Cliffs Exhibition – Atlantic Edge – is housed in the impressive central dome and forms an important part of the visitor’s experience onsite. The exhibition provides a gateway to the WOW factor delivered by nature itself at the Cliffs of Moher with the opportunity for the visitor to learn more about many aspects of the Cliffs. The vast majority of the 900,000 plus visitors to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience in 2013 included the Cliffs Exhibition in their visit. Seven years after opening we are seeking expressions of interest from companies with the capability, creativity and vision to provide the exhibition with new content and increase visitor engagement and enjoyment. It is envisaged that the installation of the new content will take place during the winter of 2013/2014 during winter operation of the visitor centre and all new elements should be operational by 1stApril 2014. While this contract refers specifically to new content for the Cliffs Exhibition, the integration of the development of the Cliffs Exhibition over the past seven years as outlined in the Interpretation Plan within the overall interpretation plan is essential. Some exhibits have been highlighted specifically for replacement. However, all exhibits, with the exception of two, are open for replacement, alteration or enhancement. The key objective of the tender process is to deliver a fresh new visitor experience and impact at the Cliffs Exhibition for the 2014 season and beyond. This contract was awarded to Rockbrook Engineering Ltd, 21 Kilcarberry Business Park, New Nangor Road, Dublin 22.
